Gluten-Free Products – Gluten-Free Corn Chex coming soon to a store near you!

Corn Chex
I know you all were excited when Rice Chex was reformulated to be gluten-free – but the good news on mainstream gluten-free products just keeps on coming.  Gluten-Free Corn Chex and Cinnamon Chex are coming soon.  General Mills is still rolling out the gluten-free version. As of March 15th, their Web site still lists barley malt as an ingredient, so be sure to check for the updated box before making a purchase.  [The gluten-free formulation replaces barley malt with brown sugar syrup.]  And over on Gluten-Free Philly, the news continues – Gluten-Free Honey Nut Chex are available already in New Jersey.   Strawberry Chex are already listed at gluten-free on the General Mills Web site.  Check out Gluten-Free Post for more on the Gluten-Free Corn Chex.

Whole Foods finally started carrying GF Oats from Bob’s Red Mill. Found them at the Columbus Circle location a couple of weeks ago.

Can’t wait! I am so stinkin’ excited! We love the Strawberry! I had no idea about the Cinnamon or Honey Nut. I am keeping my eyes peeled for them. The store I was at today only had GF Rice Chex. The others still had barley malt in them. I know it will come, but I am impatient now! 😉

Cinnamon Chex are not Gluten Free. General Mills Site is still showing that Cinnamon Chex contains Barley malt.

Mondschein- I got some of the gf oats at the Union Square Whole Foods this weekend – so convenient!

Kim-patience is not one of my virtues, so I’m anxious too!

Nancy – you are right, I updated the post, they are being reformulated too but they haven’t changed the ingredients yet on their site.

The official roll out date for the reformulated Cinnamon Chex, Corn Chex, Strawberry Chex, Honey Nut Chex and Chocolate Chex is June 1, 2009.

It was recently suggested to us to try our son on a gluten-free diet in order to see if it would diminish some of his ASD symptoms and I’ve been in a bit of a panic over where to start and what in the wold I would give my cereal-loving little guy that wouldn’t cost us a small fortune. The Chex going GF is GREAT news!!!

I applaud GM for producing gluten-free Corn Chex cereal…but what about those of us who preferred the original version?

I loved Corn Chex, but I don’t see why my cereal has changed to accomodate 1-133 people. Offer both products and let the consumer decide.
