After a bit of a blogging break (real life gets in the way of sometimes), I am excited to announce another gluten-free guide giveaway. I recently received a sampler pack from Kay’s Naturals. They make a variety of gluten-free low-carb snacks. One of the challenges of managing Celiac and Diabetes are the varied and usually higher number of carbs in gluten-free versions of cereals and breads. I was excited to try Kay’s to see how they tasted and if they were actually lower-carb.
The results were mixed. I LOVED a few items – the cinnamon toast pretzels had a hint of sweet and a nice pretzel crunch. The white cheddar cheese Kruncheeze have a delicious cheddar flavor and are a satisfying snack. My favorite though was the French Vanilla Protein Cereal which is surprisingly low in carbs, holds up well in milk with great crunch and flavor that isn’t too sweet.
A few of their products were just ok (e.g. the apple cinnamon cereal) and a couple tasted like vegetables or what I imagine cat food to taste like – stay clear of the golden butter pretzels. As much as I like vegetables it wasn’t what I was looking for in a pretzel and though Cat is one of my nicknames, I don’t aspire to maintain a feline diet…
That said, I will be placing a big order of French Vanilla Protein Cereal and am pretty excited to have more options for plane/travel food since Kay’s Naturals come in individual serving packs.
Now to the good part – one lucky reader will receive their very own Kay’s Naturals sampler pack. Leave a comment below describing your favorite breakfast by Wednesday April 22, 2009 at 11:59 EDT. The winner will be selected at random from the entries.
Does anyone eat a savory breakfast like Mark Bittman? My favorite breakfast is soft scrambled eggs with fresh whole milk ricotta and truffle salt or a super healthy frittata (seriously I’d rather make that at home than pay for some fancy NYC brunch – yum)
Tweet Pin ItMy favorite breakfast is buttermilk belgian waffles (using tapioca and rice flour), topped with butter and yummy maple syrup!
My favorite breakfast is scrambled eggs, grits, country ham with red-eye gravy, fresh squeezed orange, juice and a cup of good black coffee!
My favorite breakfast is yogurt and fruit. Greek yogurt when I can afford it!
My current favorite breakfast, is a smoothie. So simple, yet so yummy. 1/4 cup nuts, 1/4 cup GF oats, 1 1/2 cup fruit, liquid to desired consistancy. Mmmmmm, and holds me over better than anything else I’ve yet tried
Oh I love Kay’s Naturals! Their single serving packets are wonderful. My favorite breakfast is cereal with fresh fruit and yogurt. I typically have 7-8 different cereals and many different types of yogurt to chooses from. Thanks for the giveaway of such great products.
I have been allergic to gluten all my life and my parents just never got it figured out that that was my problem with illness and lack of energy. My favorite breakfast is soft scrambled eggs spanish style (jack cheese, jalapeno, onion and tomato) and bacon because I mostly avoid the carbs.
My favorite breakfast is brown rice cakes with Barney Butter Almond butter, fruit spread and then an egg while omelet with spinach & tomato on the side.
I love Kay’s Natural! My son loves that Protein Cereal!
I love kippers and eggs or lamb kidneys with sauteed onions
My dad loved British breakfasts and passed the love onto me.

These snacks look great – I’d love to try them out!
My favorite breakfast is yogurt (I am loving coconut yogurt right now) mixed with blueberries and sliced almonds!
Our favorite breakfast is home made yogurt, home made applesauce, pine nuts, and crazins. The yogurt and apple sauce are still warm. Yowza!
My favorite breakfast is gluten free toast with sugar and cinnamon and hot tea.
oooh… breakfast is my absolute favorite meal! I’m a savory breakfast person – I will do sweet once in a while, but I love eggs/cheese/toast…. here are my two favorite breakfasts right now (because I couldn’t just list one):
1. GF toast (sterks bread, or glutino english muffin) with melted cheese, avocado slices, a squeeze of lemon on top, with some seasoned salt or cajun spices
2. GF wrap (la tortilla factory sonoma is great) with scrambled eggs mixed with jack cheese, salsa, organic rinsed black beans, onions and avocado
also – mark bittman’s “how to cook everything” is my bible – love his recipes! so simple & always delicious!
Well, my all-time favorite breakfast is leftover gluten-free pumpkin pie, but that happens only once a year.
So I’ll list my favorite breakfast as:
– A modified western omelette – diced canned jalapeno peppers, onions (ham optional) with american cheese and served with a side of salsa
– Home fries
– Bacon (if there’s no ham in the omelette)
– Strong coffee
Scrambled Eggs with cottage cheese and bell peppers mixed in are my favorite! Lots of protein so I stay full and GF!
Breakfast Burritos!
Usually with fried potatoes, onions, scrambled eggs, cheese, sprouts, sausage, and salsa.
Thanks for offering a great looking giveaway!
I love oats with peanut butter, wheat germ and ground flax seed.
My most frequent breakfast is a GF protein shake, but my FAVORITE breakfast is bacon and eggs.
For my kids, GF oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar is a hug favorite. Though if you ask them they’d probably admit that GF waffles or pancakes are their true favorite.
I love breakfast on Saturday mornings with my fiancee. We wake up and make breakfast burritos. First scrambling some eggs with some Mexican cheese in them. I cook up some turkey bacon in the oven and some home fries on the stove. We put it all together in a corn tortilla and have a great gluten free meal!!
I’d have to say Bette Hagman’s crepes with a banana-pecan-and-brown sugar center. Can’t forget the whipped cream!
I love a bowl of grits with a handful of shredded cheddar stirred in, topped with a soft boiled egg, sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper, a sprinkling of garlic powder and a hearty shake or two of hot sauce.
Homemade granola (GF oats) with greek yogurt topped with cinnamon and honey
AHH I love cereal. I’ve eaten cereal for breakfast since I can remember (and still do). Once I was diagnosed with CD I tried every GF cereal I could get my hands on. I’ve pretty much settled on Envirokidz but can’t wait to try the french vanilla cereal you enjoyed.
