Udi’s Gluten-Free Bread in NYC!

Udis gluten free bread and muffin sampler

Good news, thanks to Fresh Direct, New Yorkers can now get Udi’s gluten-free bread, muffins and pizza crusts delivered with the rest of their groceries.  Each loaf is priced a full $2 cheaper than the Food for Life gluten-free brown rice bread and Udi’s is so much tastier.  I swooned over their bread last year when I enjoyed amazing gluten-free toast using Udi’s gluten-free bread.

I feel so lucky to be in NYC right now, in spite of the freezing weather. Brrrrrr!

It’s only been a few weeks at Fresh Direct, but having access to Udi’s has already increased our quality of life immensely. We are a GF family…we don’t fuss over food, our challenge is simply to be able to enjoy normal active stuff like camp outs, ski team, swim meets (these last all day and you need to pack a lunch) , pond hockey, or a spontaneous dodgeball tournmament. Not to mention the everyday luxury of being able to send the kids to school with a “normal looking” lunch. Sofar Udi’s is the only bread I’ve found (thanks to this blog btw) that is worthy of a PBJ. We’ve been buying direct from Udi’s at about $50 a week for bread. Being able to purchase locally cuts out the massive shipping cost. 2009 was a great year for GF product expansion!

First, thank you for including me in your blogroll!

Second, how can I find out where to purchase this bread in my area?

Thanks!

Ellen

I’m back again. I just noticed that you can get 3 free deliveries from FD if you put the code “Truck” (or maybe it was “trucks” ) in at checkout. That should help to offset some of the delivery fee. We order from them so often, we have the yearly pass. But i noticed the fee is rather high for one-time customers. Hope that info helps.

This is the second blog post I’ve seen today that mentioned Udi’s bread! I think it’s a sign I have to find it and try it!

EVERYTHING Udi’s makes is amazing! I am from Denver, the home of Udi’s, but I was in San Diego last week and they had it too. I think Whole Foods must have picked it up because I am seeing it everywhere. The Blueberry muffins and Cinnamon Rolls are to die for too!

Would it be possible to list the ingredients in the Udi’s bread, along with the sodium content? It sounds delicious, but I want to know more details before I order some and I can’t find the nutritional info on their site. Thanks so much!
